Gordon To Leave Oxford Nanopore

Gordon is stepping down as CEO of Oxford Nanopore and is set to leave the post before the end of 2026. Oxford accounts have been looking better recently, so the announcement give Gordon a chance to leave on a high. There are however still many challenges ahead if they’re to reach profitability by 2027. Their recent results may be a one time boost, caused by restructuring sales, with device sales seemingly flat. Whoever takes on the role will likely still have their work cut out for them.

In any case, 21 years is a long time!

Over on the Discord someone suggested Spike was also on his way out. With Gordon going, this wouldn’t be terribly surprising. If that’s the case, almost all the original executive team will be gone with only Zoe McDougall remaining.

A new executive team could give the company a fresh lease of life. And I’ll be extremely interested to see what direction a new CEO takes the company in.
